The BlackBerry Curve 8520 is the first BlackBerry smartphone to feature a touch-sensitive trackpad and dedicated media keys. It provides easy access to email, messaging (IM, SMS, MMS) and social networking sites (including Facebook and MySpace), and features a full-QWERTY keyboard. It has built-in Wi-Fi, and includes rich multimedia capabilities with easy access to music, games, and other mobile applications.

Research In Motion's Managing Director for Australia and New Zealand, Adele Beachley said, "The BlackBerry Curve 8520 is an incredibly feature-rich and easy-to-use smartphone. It delivers exceptional messaging, social networking and multimedia capabilities and it is a perfect choice for the first-time smartphone user."

Other BlackBerry Curve 8520 smartphone features include: 256MB Flash memory, voice activated dialling, Bluetooth 2.0, 2-megapixel camera, 3.5mm stereo headset jack, BlackBerry Media Sync, Built-in Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g) for faster browsing and extended data coverage, and quad-band EGDE/GPRS/GSM (850/900/1800/1900 MHz)

The BlackBerry Curve 8520 will be available from Optus and Vodafone.
