"Lightweight Fujitsu Notebook Heavy On The Price"

By Mendelson Tiu | Published:2008-03-10

The new notebook from Fujitsu promises a lightweight profile, a multitude of connectivity options, an outstanding battery life, and a lot of troubleshooting and security features. But is it worth the asking price of $2,899?

The P8010 lives up to its ‘portability' claim as it only weighs 1.3kg. It sports a smaller profile in comparison to other ultraportable notebooks out in the market but is not as thin as other notebooks (like Apple's Macbook Air). The exterior sports a shiny black finish but is quite prone to fingerprint marks, making it look ‘dirty' after a couple of weeks.

With the lid closed, users will be able to find the headphone and microphone jack, IEEE1394 connector, two USB ports, Ethernet port, D-sub output, and charging port on the left side of the unit, while another USB port and a slim optical drive can be found on the right side of the notebook. A wireless on/off switch up front give users faster access to wireless zones and can instantly be turned off to save batteries. The notebook is also equipped with an SD card reader that can be used to copy photos from multimedia cards.
