  HP commits to mobility

By Lilia Guan | Thursday | 2005-07-07

Hewlett-Packard has turned to Cellnet Group to help it drive into the telecommunications market. The contract will see Cellnet distribute HP iPAQ’s Pocket PCs – including the new to Australia, three-way wireless h6365 pocket PC – to the reseller community throughout Australia.

Cellnet is the dominant distributor in the phone and accessories market as well as being a player in the IT and AV industries. It was this expertise in the telecommunications space and its strong partnerships with Australia's leading telecommunications organisations that won it the new contract.

"Entering into a reseller agreement with industry giant HP made a lot of sense, given the convergence of IT, AV and Telco related markets and HP's strong presence in all these environments. The future technology advantages of new converged devices, such as the HP iPAQ h6365, will greatly enhance the mobility solutions available to our consumer and business customers," said, said Peter Laver, General Manager, Cellnet Consumer Products.

HP is very pleased to be in a partnership with Cellnet, who has the proven experience and reach in the Australian telecommunications market. It has great confidence in Cellnet's ability to deliver HP mobility solutions to their customers.

"HP Australia is strongly committed to the success of our channel strategy," said Martin Dare, director of Sales, Solution Partner Organisation HP Australia. "By fostering long-term channel partnerships we are able to help drive profitability and growth for the Australian channel, and, ultimately provide customers with the best technology experience.

On an interesting note Cellnet also signed with Toshiba in late May with the notebook company citing the same interest in the telecommunications market.
