Acer Iconia Tab Revealed In Oz Wednesday

Hotly tipped Honeycomb tab get its Aussie debut on Wednesday hot on the heels of the iPad 2 tablet.

Although it has not yet been confirmed which Iconias will grace our shores, the W500  tab is tipped to be among the line up.

The 10.1″ Iconia Tab W500, classed as delivering “the best from PCs, the best from tablets,” has a multi-touch screen but also comes with a full-size chiclet docking keyboard is “perfect for productivity,” say its makers.

And it’s not just designed to appeal to business tastes. It is a complete media entertainment centre.

It offers wide appeal with several rich extras like HD gaming, together with Dolby optimised audio, and looks set to run on Windows 7.

Inside, Acer’s much anticipated answer to the iPad is equipped with AMD C-50 processor and Radeon HD6250 graphics, for excellent visuals and gaming on a high definition screen.

It also offers a multitude of connectivity options including Wi-Fi, 3G on selected models or Bluetooth 3.0 and a HDMI port.

It also has a front and rear facing camera (Acer Crystal Eye 1.3MP webcam) while the HD ready camera out in front is designed for Skype or video calls.

Acer Australia Marketing Manager previously told ChannelNews that the Taiwanese company sees tablets “as a major new category that will be split between consumer and commercial models running a variety of different applications”.

 

No pricing is available yet but all will be revealed later this week.
