The latest enterprise-class notebook from Acer is a virtual fortress, the company says. The TravelMate 6460 offers enhanced security features based around the Trusted Platform Module (TPM).

Acer says this discrete hardware security design enables reliable electronic transactions and is the basis of the security ecosystem in the new notebook. An integrated biometric fingerprint reader also incorporates TPM as the embedded security subsystem.

Acer’s Lindsay Tobin says “TPM technology is far stronger than a software-only solution for protecting data integrity, and it enhances user authentication.

“TPM offers facilities for secure generation of cryptographic keys, the ability to limit the use of keys (to signing/verification/encryption/decryption), as well as a hardware Random Number Generator. Acer’s eData Security software application supports TPM 1.2 and allows for file encryption and the creation of a Personal Secure Disk, allowing organisations to take advantage of TPM quickly and easily.”

In addition to the security features, the TravelMate 6460 is powered by Intel Core 2 Duo processor. It features dual-channel DDR2 memory and the S-ATA 5400RPM Hard Drive is protected with Acer Disk Anti-Shock Protection technology. Anti Theft technology is also in place to warn users when the system is being moved.

In terms of graphics, the notebook has a 15.4 inch display and comes with ATI Mobility Radeon X1300, including up to 512MB of HyperMemory.

RRP: $3499
