Graphics software specialist Adobe has reported a 21 percent jump in net profit for its fiscal fourth quarter, reflecting record sales of its Acrobat and Creative Suite software. The results comfortably beat analyst expectations.

Revenue for the quarter ended November 30 jumped 34pc to US$911.2 million, easily exceeding the company’s earlier estimates of $860-890 million. Net profit was $222.2 million, compared with $183.2 million.

In April, Adobe released its Creative Suite 3, a package considered to act as a barometer for the company’s overall health, to the design market. It was the first new version in almost two years, and sales are believed to have been spectacular.

For the full year to November 30, Adobe achieved record revenue of $3.16 billion, up 23 percent from $2.57 billion in fiscal 2006. Net income was $723.8 million, compared to $505.8 million in fiscal ’06.
