Apple Beware: 9 Million Samsung Galaxy S3s Pre Ordered
0Overall Score

The Galaxy S3 has taken 9 million preorders in just two weeks, giving Apple and co something to think about.

According to Korea Economic Daily, the Galaxy S3 has received 9 million pre orders from over 100 carriers around the world. The report cites an unidentified Samsung official who also revealed Samsung’s smartphone factory in South Korea is running its full capacity of 5 million units per month in an effort to avoid sales shortages.

The Galaxy S2, the S3’s predecessor, was the driving force that helped Samsung become the world’s top mobile maker, dethroning Nokia. However, it took the S2 ten months to sell 20 million units. In comparison, the S3 has been on pre-order for just two weeks and has almost reached half of that.

It looks like Samsung’s S3 is building upon the sales momentum of its Galaxy ancestors in a bid to rid Apple of its smartphone dominance. So far they’re doing pretty well considering the pre-order figures exclude Apple’s key market: the USA.

At present there’s no concrete word on when the Galaxy S3 will be coming to Australia. However, we have received an intriguing invitation from Samsung to “experience a product that will change the way we interact with technology.” Speaking at the event on May 31st is Tyler McGee, Samsung’s VP of Telecommunications.

Stay tuned for updates on the Galaxy S3.
