A shooting has broken out on a HP campus resulting in 3 deaths and 6 wounded. The incident has taken place right next door to Apple who has gone into lockdown, and not far from the home of the late Steve Jobs.

Authorities are currently hunting for a gunman who at this stage has been named Shareef Allman. It was only a few weeks ago that HP was announcing layoffs and a major restructuring of the company.

Wired is reporting that after news of the shooting broke they called Apple’s switchboard where an employee confirmed that the company was in lockdown. Police at this stage are saying that the incident is contained.

Local Silicon Valley newspaper The Mercury reported the gunman is a HP employee named Shareef Allman (47-years-old). Allman was amongst 15 men gathered in a small HP trailer at 4am, sipping coffee. He then pulled a gun from his waistband and began shooting.

Assuming a stance practiced at shooting ranges with his .40-caliber handgun, he systematically shot co-workers until they fell, leaving 3 dead and six more injured.

Allman retreated into his 1999 Mercury hatchback and fled the scene into a residential neighbourhood, triggering a massive manhunt.
