EXCLUSIVE: The fight between LG Australia and Dyson that resulted in LG Electronics taking legal action in the Federal Court over what LG claimed was misleading advertising is set to be resolved after Dyson moved to amend wording for their popular V6 vacuum cleaner.

Kenneth Hong the Global Communications Director of LG Electronics said that he is is hopeful that Dyson will make concessions and change the copy of the offending marketing material.

Hong also confirmed that it was LG management in Australia who chose not to inform Australian journalists about the legal action that was commenced on October 12th.

Philip Anderson the Public Relations Manager at LG Australia claimed yesterday that “we had no right” to reveal that LG Australia had taken action against Dyson.

He went on to claim that he “would check our facts” accusing ChannelNews of resorting to translating Korean press releases to get information about the case.

He said his understanding of the Korean language was “better than ours”.

Anderson who appeared to not realise that once a legal case has been filed into the Australian Court system it becomes a matter of public record.

According to Hong, the Korean media team at LG Headquarters told Korean media about the case after discussions with LG Australia management.

A Dyson spokesperson said “Dyson is updating our advertising message to reflect the fact that the Dyson V6 is the most powerful cordless stick vacuum. We continue to invest on behalf of retailers and consumers who back Australia’s number one selling vacuum cleaner”.
