Facebook: Forget Profiles, Your Life Is NOW On Timeline
0Overall Score

Forget profiles: your life is now on a timeline. Facebook biggest update ever has gone live and wants you to “tell a story”.
The timeline, which is set to replace the Facebook ‘profile’ has gone live and tells “the whole story of your life on a single page” says founder Mark Zuckerberg, and basically catalogues your life since you were born.

Facebooks’s new gimmick shares all your posts, stories, photos, comments in one lenghty timeline complete with dates and appears to be far more image and location centric than Facebook profiles ever were.

Although Timeline has gone live on your page, and The Social Network is letting you create and review your line before it goes live on your page for others to see, in seven days time.

“You can also choose to publish your timeline at any time during the review period. If you decide to wait, your timeline will go live automatically after seven days,” Facebook said today on its blog.

But worry not, all your precious images and past comments are not going anywhere:

“Your new timeline will replace your profile, but all your stories and photos will still be there.”

However, you can also choose to hide stuff from your timeline if you wish and can customise it to select who you wish to view you post (sounds like a lot of work).

There is also an new ‘Activity Log’ where you can review all posts and timeline activity, from when you first started using Facebook, which only the user can access.

“Now you share photos of what you did last weekend, and updates about how you feel today.”

Responses from Facebookers to Timeline have been mixed:

“I don’t like the idea or the amount of time and work someone has to dedicate to this,” one wrote on Facebook blog comments.

However, another user disagreed: “This looks f****** awesome dude. I’ve had it for months.”

And to prove its love for all things mobile Facebook has also created the Timeline especially for Android’s (version 1.8.1) and for its mobile Facebook app.

The mobile version timeline starts with your main FB pic. As you scroll down, you’ll see your posts, photos and life events as they happened, back to the day you were born.

Hit the Introducing Timeline page and click Get Timeline to access Facebook’s new tool or else there is to be an announcement at the top of your page shortly, Facebook have confirmed.
