The NBN Co has said that 30% of homes in Australia will not get fast broadband until 2020 and for those who get 1,000 MBPs it will cost up to $150 a month.

In a new report that is set to be released today the Labor Government are claiming that up to $28 Billion will have to be funded by the Federal Government.

This will include two satellites for rural Australia which have not been costed.

The cost to wholesalers will be $24 a connection per month per user.

The basic plan will offer download speeds of 12 megabits per second and upload speeds of one megabit per second.

”NBN Co’s expected internal rate of return is 7.0 per cent,” documents provided to reporters by the company show.

The assumption is based on a 70 per cent takeup of the network by businesses and homes.

Further to the expected rate of return is the prediction of a $13.4 billion capital raising from the markets by 2015.
