Optus has pounced on the new Galaxy Tab 2, the first retailer in Oz to flog the device.

The 10″ (1280X800) Samsung Tab 2 10.0 also has front low res (VGA) and rear (3MP) cameras for video chats, Polaris document editor, Bluetooth 3.0 and USB 2.0.

The clever tab can also transfer multimedia to other Samsung devices via AllSharePlay, is powered by 1GHz dual core processor and Samsung are also giving 50GB of free DropBox storage.

Optus are selling the 10″ Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.0 starting at $39.95 monthly fee ($19 + $20 device repayment) with 2GB data and plans go up to 20GB data. All plans are over 2 years.

All data plans offer unlimited access to ‘select’ social networking sites and the telco is bundling Tab 2 10.1 with a mobile plan, saying consumers will save $10 (Oh, wow).

Outright the tab will retail for around A$400, although Optus spokesperson told SmartHouse it is not selling the Tab 2 outright.

The Tab 2 10.1 boasts a minimalist design, is mobile weighing 0.5kg and is a skinny little number at 9.7mm thick.

 

Optus, Managing Director of Marketing, Michael Smith said the telco is “delighted” to be one of the first with the device in Oz.

The Samsung GALAXY Tab 2 10.1 is available in selected Yes Optus stores rom today.
