Well, fancy no more as Optus are offering “exclusive” live streaming of Seven’s coverage via a unique TV and Video app, for the second year running.

The live tennis streaming will be free to customers of the telco only, however.

Optus Wi-Fi will also be running across the  Australian Open site at Melbourne Park for thousands of tennis fans throughout the 2 week tournament. For free.

But you don’t need to be an Optus customer to benefit – users on any network will be able to access the web and download apps, at no charge.

“At this year’s Australian Open, we are dedicated to delivering seamless connectivity and innovation to tennis fans for the duration of the tournament,” said Jann Kohlman, Optus Sponsorship and Community Programs.

“As the exclusive telecommunications partner for the eighth year running, free Wi-Fi on the ground, dedicated digital applications and live streaming will allow people around Australia to embrace all that Australia’s most high profile sporting event has to offer.”

Optus has also bumped up its Go Places app, a Melbourne restaurant guide with specific deals, for attendees of the Open next weekend, which is free to download.

The app will be available for the duration of the tournament.

Optus has invested $3 million in its network infrastructure in the past 12 to 18 months to boost capacity in areas surrounding the Melbourne Park precinct, it said today.
