Linksys says its new wireless-N USB network adapter is an easy way to add wireless connectivity to a notebook or desktop PC.
The WUSB300N is based on the 802.11n draft specification, but also works with standard 802.11g and 802.11b equipment.
However Linksys claims that when both ends of the link are in the n specification, speeds can be up to 12 times faster than the g standard.
The device works by overlaying the signals of multiple radios so the MIMO technology creates a signal that is stronger and travels up to four times faster than g devices. This also reduces dead spots.
Thanks to the WUSB300N, users can access email, the Internet and shared files, as well as network devices such as printers and external storage.
Connections are protected by 256-bit encryption.
The adapter retails for $219.95. More information is available at www.linksys.com.au
