Google Buys Zagat, Adds To Its Trophy Case

Google has gone on a gourmet buying spree, paying around US$125 million for global restaurant review site Zagat. It has not revealed how much it paid.

The New York-based company carries millions of restaurant and entertainment venue reviews and will add to Google’s search database.

Zagat rates restaurants, hotels and other local attractions with the help of more than 300,000 contributors world-wide. Until now it had only a small online presence.
