Hot Targus Adaptors Recalled

Targus has issued a recall for two of its adaptors as it has the potential to melt or char.According to the company, the PA64AU-02 (Universal Wall/Auto/Air Power Adaptor) and APM64AU-02 (Universal Wall Power Adaptor) are affected and were sold at major retailers and distributors.

The company has listed: A&R Computer Services Pty Ltd, Australian Way Pty Ltd, Bing Lee Electronics, Bluechip Infotech Pty Ltd, BMS Technology Pty Ltd, Domayne, Harvey Norman, Ingram Micro (NZ) Limited, Ingram Micro Pty Ltd, JB Hi Fi Group Pty Ltd, Joyce Mayne, Leader Computers Pty Ltd, Officeworks Superstores, Rodin Corporation Pty Ltd t/as Dicker Data, Standard Computers Australia Pty Ltd, Synnex New Zealand Limited, Targus Australia, Toshiba (Australia) Pty Ltd, and WOW Audio Visual Superstores P/L.

According to the post found on the Recalls.gov.au website, the failure ‘originates inside the output connector/tip assembly due to a poor electrical contact, resulting in increased contact electrical resistance.’

Users are advised to stop using the power adaptor and contact Lorraine Read from Targus Australia by phoning 1800 641 645 (toll free) in order to obtain a prepaid envelope to return the products to Targus Australia for a replacement.
