The HTC Wildfire comes with a 3.2-inch capacitive touch, HTC’s Friend Stream application which combines and displays social networking updates from Facebook, Twitter, and Flickr, a 5-megapixel camera with auto focus and LED flash, and 3.5mm jack and microSD card slot. Additional special features include the ability to recommend apps straight from your phone, as well as a ‘Leap’ view to help you find things faster.

HTC’s Sales and Marketing Director, Anthony Petts said, “HTC Wildfire closely follows the success of the acclaimed HTC Desire launched with Telstra in April this year.”

“This new smartphone makes the signature HTC Sense experience accessible to a younger audience, through the integration of the most popular social networks to help bring your friends closer to you.  HTC Wildfire also offers an additional range of features – from next-generation Caller ID that allows you to view in depth  contact details from their Facebook status and birthday when the call comes through, to the ability to recommend applications to friends in one simple tap,” added Petts.

Telstra’s Executive Director, Mobility Products, Ross Fielding said, “Combining striking looks, some of HTC Desire’s best features and an ultra-affordable price tag, the new HTC Wildfire is set to excite. Available in either ‘Pure White’ or ‘Phantom Black’ and featuring sleek brushed aluminium highlights, this little powerhouse provides one-touch access to Google services like YouTube and Gmail as well as Telstra apps like Mobile FOXTEL from Telstra.”

“Wildfire’s easy-to-use menus can be filled with fun apps and games from the Android Market. HTC Wildfire owners will also enjoy speedy web browsing and social networking in more places thanks to Telstra’s Next G network — Australia’s largest and fastest national mobile network,” concluded Fielding.

The HTC Wildfire launches next month with pricing to be announced at a later date.
