LG Over The Moon With New Boss

LG has just hired a new local boss, Deok Hyeon Moon, as Managing Director of Australia operations.

The appointment of Mr Deok Hyeon Moon as Managing Director of LG Australia, announced today, comes just a week after TV guru, Tim Barnes, quit as LG strategic business development manager.

Mr Moon (pictured) will be in charge of both LG’s Australian and New Zealand subsidiary, building on the success of 2011 and hopes to continue improving the TV giant’s market share locally, he said today.

He replaces outgoing Managing Director, Mr William Cho, who will take on a more senior position back in Korea.

LG’s latest appointee has worked at the Korean-based giant for 26 years and most recently role was President of its Russian subsidary and prior to this he was in Panama running the Central America area which comprised of 24 countries. 

During his tenure with the business he has also held CEO and President positions in France and senior management roles in Korea.
 
His key achievements during his time with LG include significantly growing market share of major categories in Russia and was responsible for taking the TV category from number three to two position and the AV category from number two to one.
 
Mr Moon joins LG Australia at an “interesting time” the company admitted today, where LG Australia was the company’s number one subsidiary globally, exceeding market share targets.

 

Moon said he was looking forward to his new management role in Australia:

“LG Australia and New Zealand is one of our subsidiaries that is really growing in terms of market share and I look forward to further strengthening this to take us to number one.

“The local marketing team has also implemented innovative social media and experiential campaigns in the last twelve months which are considered leading edge in LG Business and I look forward to taking these to the next level in 2012.”
