Apple’s latest operating system, Mountain Lion, has been downloaded 3 million times in just four days.
According to the company, Mountain Lion is the fastest launching Apple OS yet.
Mountain Lion is the ninth major revision of OS X and was released on Wednesday in the US. Australians who downloaded the software were charged $21 which covered upgrades for all of their personal computers.
If you had purchased an Apple computer on or After June 11, Apple provided the upgrade at no cost.
Mountain Lion bridges the gap between Apple’s computer and mobile software by incorporating features common to the iPhone and iPad. Apple claim the new software benefits from 200 new features, including a new ‘Power Nap’ mode and notifications.
