Small Business accounting software vendor MYOB has announced an alteration to its 2006 new feature release schedule.

The company says that a survey of its existing user base has revealed that its past practice of releasing feature and product updates in the June timeframe conflicts too much with customers’ end of financial year rush.

MYOB has decided to hold that new feature release back to September 2006 to avoid the April, May rush in the lead up to end of fiscal year.

As well as the April/.May release, the company also usually sends out a compliance update in June, compounding users’ problems installing the updates.

Commenting on the change, MYOB General Manager Business Division Andrew Fiori-Dea said: “This move reaffirms MYOB’s commitment to Australian business owners as we lighten the administrative burden at our customers’ busiest time of year.”

This feature release applies to the following products:

  • MYOB Accounting
  • MYOB Accounting Plus
  • MYOB Premier
  • MYOB Premier Enterprise
  • MYOB AccountEdge

MYOB Cover customers, with a current plan on scheduled release dates, will still receive a compliance update to their business management software in June to help them calculate the latest tax table changes.

In addition to this, there will also be a further compliance update in September to accommodate BAS and Payment Summary changes. This September compliance update will be included in the new feature release.
