In a move which will likely garner even more marketshare for Apple’s digital music player, the company has introduced a new 1GB iPod nano, this one for just $219.

With the same look and features as the existing nano range, the new 1GB device will sell at a price point between the 2GB nano and the company’s display-crippled Shuffle range.

Accordingly, Apple has reduced the price of the iPod shuffle with the 512MB and 1GB models priced at $99 and $149 respectively.

Unlike the Shuffle, the nano series features a high-resolution colour screen which can display album art while playing music, view photo slideshows or play games. iPod nano also features the same 30-pin dock connector as the hard disk iPod’s so will work with the range of over 2,000 accessories developed for iPod.

The 1GB nano are available in white or black and are supposed to be available worldwide immediately.
