Sonys VAIO range of notebooks is back with a sleek new corporate look. The new models have done away with the lilac pearl finish and now sports a two-tone design of silver and metallic black.

The new entry-level PCG-K64 (the K64), PCG-K66P (the K66P) with built-in DVD burner and, the sleek PCG-TR3 (the TR3) offer new features combined with the sleek new VAIO designThe K Series incorporates a brand new design for VAIO, said Marcus Cornish, Sony Australia Product Manager for VAIO notebooks. The unique chassis has been designed to enhance functionality, while the colour has been changed from the lilac pearl finish to a beautiful two- tone design of silver and metallic black.  The new wedge-shaped base supports a slanted keyboard which offers a much more comfortable typing experience and adds to the overall streamlined look. We feel that the new design is a stylish new direction for the brand and are confident it will be a success.

Over the last 12 months, VAIO has been extremely successful. In 2003, we occupied 10 per cent of the Australian retail notebook market, doubling share in a growing market place, Cornish said. This is largely due to the fact that we offer something for everyone, at key prices. We had six models last year, ranging from specialised markets through to desktop replacements. Our business strategy which focuses on key products at key prices, continues to be successful for the brand.
