OZ Online Web Sites Slow When Compared To Overseas Sites
Australian online retailers are failing with their Internet response times, according to research by IT performance company Compuware.
The inaugural Gomez Web performance benchmark for the Australian retail industry, compiled by Compuware, reveals that, of the Australian retail companies’ home pages measured in October, only 36 percent achieved a response time rating of less than two seconds.
This could impact customer satisfaction and their ability to compete with overseas retail Web sites, Compuware says.
The benchmark measured the performance of 22 Australian retail Web sites between October 1 and November 1.
The average response time rating of 3.4 seconds was significantly slower than comparable retail markets such as the US, which has an average of 2.2 seconds, and the UK with 2.4 seconds.
