PC Tools Now Virus Bulletin Certified

The PC Tools Spyware Doctor and AntiVirus products have just received VB100 certification from security body, Virus Bulletin, something the likes of McAfee and Trend Micro have failed to achieve in the past, according to PC Tools.

The certification process, which requires security products to detect every single one of many “in the wild” viruses thrown at it, has previously stumped major security vendors including Microsoft, McAfee, and Trend Micro, claims PC Tools. Products that pass this test must be able to do so without generating one false alarm when faced with a set of clean files to scan.

“We are proud to be certified by Virus Bulletin for these key products. This demonstrates how a medium-sized company can produce excellent products that meet tough industry standards,” said PC Tools CEO Simon Clausen.

This award follows PC Tools recent acquisition of the behavioural anti-malware technology, Cyberhawk, which according to Clausen promises to make PC Tools’ products even more effective against zero-day attacks.
