Computer peripherals and sound products-maker Plantronics has won five Innovation Awards from the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) in recognition of its leadership in developing innovative communication and entertainment solutions.

It won in categories including headsets, telephony and mobile and computer accessories – the awards of which will be displayed at the Plantronics/Altec Lansing stand at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas early next year.

Plantronics acquired Altec Lansing in 2005 to combine its expertise in voice communications with Altex Lansing’s expertise in music entertainment, said the companies.

“Consumers expect more from their devices today as the lines between voice and music, home and work continue to blur,” said Plantronics Australia and New Zealand managing director, Graeme Gherbaz.

“Breakthroughs like the Plantronics Voyager 855 and Calisto Pro demonstrate our ability to translate consumer need into inspirational products that combine brilliant sound, ease of use and elegant design.”

The five awards are as follows:

· Plantronics Voyager 855 Bluetooth headset – Headphones
· Plantronics Voyager 855 Bluetooth headset – Wireless Handset Accessories
· Plantronics Calisto Pro Series – Telephones
· Plantronics Audio 480 USB Virtual Phone Booth – Computer Accessories
· Plantronics MiX 20z corded headset – Portable Media Accessories
