Samsung’s Focus S and its Focus Flash will use Windows Phone Mango as their operating system, while older WP7 mobiles will receive a Mango update too.

Samsung’s Focus S adheres to the minimalist design found on most Windows Phones, characterised by a dominant 4.3 inch Super-AMOLED screen and being powered by a 1.4GHz processer. It also features an 8MP rear and 1.3MP front facing camera for video calling, and houses this tech in an 8.5mm body, which is the same width as the company’s Android flagship, the Galaxy S2.

According to TechRadar, the Focus S will be joined by the smaller Focus Flash, a 3.7 inch Super-AMOLED mango device. Processing power hasn’t been confirmed yet, but it will have a read 5MP camera and one at the front for video calls.

Traditionally, Samsung’s Windows phones are reserved for their Omnia range, with its current version being a loner Windows Mobile. Its sudden impulse to expand its Windows Phone offering three fold is an indication Samsung is hedging the risks associated with Android, since it is now owns competitor Motorola Mobility and faces litigation.
