Flash memory maker SanDisk has announced a slew of new products dobling the capacity of earlier models.

The Extreme III line of flash cards also for professional digital cameras are doubled too with the highest capacities now reaching a massive 8GB CompactFlash, a 2GB SD and a 2GB Memory Stick PRO Duo. The Extreme III CompactFlash and SD cards have minimum write and read speeds of 20 MBps with the Memory Stick PRO Duo cards rating at 18MBps.

Tanya Chuang, SanDisk retail product marketing manager, said, “The SanDisk Extreme III line offers professional photographers an ideal combination of reliability, performance and capacity to match their shooting and workflow requirements. These are the highest performance cards you can get in CompactFlash, Memory Stick PRO Duo and SD card formats.”

For serious digital photographers, SanDisk has announced the 4GB Ultra II Memory Stick PRO Duo card, doubling the highest capacity of its existing range. With a write speed of 9MBps the Ultra II cards are primarily targeted to advanced digital photographers with high-resolution digital cameras that require fast, large-capacity digital film cards to quickly shoot many high resolution images.

Finally 2GBSanDisk Ultra II SD Plus card, also doubles previous capacities. These cards look and function like a typical SD card but have USB support making it easy to plug them into any USB port to transfer data.

With a write speed of 9MBps the Ultra II SD Plus line is targeted at enthusiast and prosumer-level digital photographers with 5 mega-pixel or higher resolution digital cameras that require significantly faster flash memory film cards.

The SanDisk Ultra II product line, which also includes CompactFlash and Memory Stick PRO Duo card formats, allows photographers to quickly capture high-resolution images and take advantage of the advanced features available today in high mega-pixel digital cameras.
