With 42 inch flat panels receiving all the attention from consumers, we could see a shift in the balance of 37 inch displays as new vendors release models.

According to wire service Digitimes, the prices of 37 inch LCD TVs in Taiwan are expected to fall as vendors such as LG, BenQ, Toshiba and ViewSonic introduce products to compete with the burgeoning 42 inch sales. Sharp already sells a 37 inch model in Taiwan.
Australians are likely to be offered more 37 inch screens and prices could drop more than 20 per cent as the shift takes place.

In Taiwan, the story says, the 32 inch screen size is the leading segment with a 38 per cent share of the market. With prices for this size already falling vendrs see an opportunity to boost sales of 37 inch TVs from 3 per cent of the market to 5 per cent by reducing prices and offering more models.
