Telstra Doubles Broadband Data As Wi Fi Rockets
0Overall Score

The telco has upped its data allowance to double previous allowances on its Complete Home Bundles. So what are the allowances? I hear you ask. Well, on previous 2GB Home bundle, this has now jumped to 5GB, the 25GB has now quadrupled to 100GB and the 100GB has now doubled to 200 GB, as well as allowing free calls to Telstra mobiles and discounted international rates.

Oh, and it’s all at no cost, meaning you can watch and read more content without worrying about hitting your limits.

This comes as customers are flocking to online in ever increasing numbers via data hungry tabs and smartphones and streaming and downlaoding like never before with the average home now containing four internet ready devices, says Telstra.

This also marks the second data increase in a year for its Bundles.

“Telstra research last year found that the average Australian home had four net-connected devices. But in the past year, half of those homes have added at least one more,” Telstra Consumer Exec Director, Rebekah O’Flaherty said.

And it looks like its not just the time web surfers are spending online – our habits are changing too.

“We’ve seen an increase in activities such as movie downloads and video streaming via T-Boxes and internet connected TVs, particularly among younger families, on top of more traditional activities such as accessing news, weather and social networking.

And Aussies are using Wi-Fi in the home in ever increasing numbers, with 40 per cent of households connecting to mobile broadband.

Existing customers with a 13 digit account number can change their Bundle by calling 13 22 00 for free from any Telstra home phone or Telstra mobile within Australia, or by visiting their nearest Telstra Store for assistance.
