Team Touchdroid, a subgroup within RootzWiki, are hoping to build a version of Android Honeycomb 3.0 that will be compatible on TouchPad, which currently runs WebOS, HP’s soon-to-be defunct platform.
But first it will develop Gingerbread 2.3 beta version, so it is unclear how long this will take the whizz kids, although October has been mentioned on RootzWiki forum.
However is good news for any Hewlett Packard tab owners, who were left dismayed when the PC giant announced it was ditching its hardware business, just last week.
The RootzWiki team who work within the Android community, aim to keep the project “as open as possible,” reports TechRadar.
“We’re planning on having a screen based button system similar to Honeycomb within Gingerbread,” says Thomas Sohmers, one of the Touchdroid developers.
