The U.S. Senate and House of Representatives compromised and voted to set 7 April 2009 as the deadline for U.S. broadcasters to fully switch to digital, reports www.eetimes.com

The sale of the reclaimed analogue spectrum is estimated to generate USD$10 billion in revenue. US$990 million has been allocated for a subsidy program that provides two USD$40 digital-to-analogue converter vouchers for U.S. households, which will allow viewers without digital receivers to continue viewing.
