Where's My iPhone? Down The Dunny....
0Overall Score

We’re heard of dropping phones into schooners of beer after a few bevvies. But now it appears its down the loo is where most water damaged phones meet their demise. That’s according to new research which shows the dunny is the most popular place for a mobile to end up in the UK.

Splash: Mobiles meet their demise in the loo.

Almost half of all water damaged phones met their misfortune from falling down a loo, research from GoodMobilePhones.co.uk found, from a survey of 1,937 mobile users – all over 18.

And liquids appears to be most common way mobiles and smartphones get damaged; almost one third of those surveyed claimed to have damaged a handset with water or another liquid substance at some point.

Phones falling into drinks was the second most common method with 21% of all phones damaged in this way, followed by the bath (12%) and the sink (7%).

(Once, I heard of someone who dropped their phone into a pint of Guinness in Ireland, only to put it into the microwave, thinking it would to dry it out…needless to say what became of that particular Nokia).

Hilariously, according to the survey, 3% reported their beloved phone going through the washing machine before they realised what they had done.

But what is really interesting is most of the loo phone droppers were in fact mostly male (73%) compared to just 27% of females.

The moral of the story? Don’t text in the toilet or it may not be the only thing you flush away.
