Acer Trumps Dell In Notebook Sales

Acer has overtaken Dell to become the number two notebook manufacturer in the world, with the strongest growth in overall market share in both the notebook and PC markets for the third quarter of 2007, according to Gartner research.

Acer has also moved to the number three spot in the worldwide PC market, with impressive sales across all regions, said Gartner.

Acer now holds a 15 per cent market share and a 69 per cent year-on-year growth in the notebook market. In the Asia Pacific region (APAC) alone, Acer ranked as the third notebook vendor with a 14 per cent share of the market and 80.6 per cent year-on-year growth.

In the PC market, Acer’s shipments grew 58 per cent year-on-year, leading to its third place in the worldwide market rankings.
