Google’s Streaming Nexus Q Sells Out In 24 Hours

Google’s Nexus Q is shaping up to be a real contender to Apple TV.

Although on sale for just 24 hours, Google’s Nexus Q has already sold out. According to PCMag, customers flocking to Google’s Play store will notice the $299 product has a shipping period of 2-3 weeks.

The Nexus Q complements Android smartphones and tablets by streaming content from Google’s Play and YouTube to screens and speakers around the house. In built is a 24W amp along with connections for an AV receiver or a HDTV.

The 4.6 inch orb runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, is powered by a dual core Cortex A9 CPU, has 1GB of RAM, 16GB of NAND flash memory and a SGX540 graphics core.

Abundant in connectivity, the Q comes with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Near Fields Communications (NFC), and will connect to devices via Micro HDMI, Micro AB USB and Ethernet.

At present, the Nexus Q is only available in the US. Google has yet to confirm if and when it will be making its debut down under.

New Sharp 60 inch TV Is All About The Big Picture

Sharp is supersizing its TV range with a new 60″ LCD TV that inherits the thin form factor from LED technology.

LED backlit, Sharps new LC-60LE630X is their latest Full HD offering that brings a stunning cinematic experience into the household. It delivers superior quality and excellent colour reproduction through 1080/24P signal input, authentically reproducing cinematic visuals through its frame rate. To keep its images blur-free during rapid motion, it uses Fine Motion Advanced 100/120Hz on Sharp’s Full HD X-Gen Panel.

The cinematic sensation would be incomplete without potent audio. Through TruSurround sound this big screen produces dynamic sound, as mentioned by Sharp’s National Marketing Manager, Mark Beard:
“Along with its brilliant images, the LC-60LE630X delivers clear, dynamic audio through the speaker. Sharp’s advanced SRS TruSurround HD, complete with bass enhancer, provides full bodied sound reproduction for movies, sport or general viewing making your home cinema the place to be.”

Sharp also recognise that multimedia capabilities and content is a crucial element in producing a high end TV, and have characterised this offering with a variety of input options.

“Connection to other equipment is quick and easy with standard terminals including HDMI, Component, AV-in, PC in, USB and AV-out,” said Beard.

Other features include Aquos Link, advanced OPC (Optical Picture Control) and movie, music and photo playback through USB.

This new 60″ LCD TV will be available this September with a RRP price of $2,499.

Audyssey’s Wireless Speakers Are All About The BASS

Audyessy has released a new pair of wireless speakers that interact with smartphones, tablets and computers.

Humbly called Audyssey Wireless Speakers (Bluetooth), these satellite speakers are great for streaming music from a smartphone, tablet, laptop or pretty much any Bluetooth device within a range of up to 30 feet.

Inside their retro bodies are two 0.75 inch tweeters, two 3 inch woofers and two 4 inch passive radiators. Audyssey are proud of their speakers’ bass output, claiming they deliver “stronger low frequencies than any other speakers their size.”

The speakers will mingle with non-Bluetooth devices through the common auxiliary port.

Audyssey’s Wireless speakers are available now for $299.95.

Sonos Now Playing JB HiFi Music

As of today, Sonos customers have access to music from JB HiFi’s Now music service.

Sonos’ approach to wireless audio is two-fold: the first involves great sounding speakers, while the second focuses on music.

The company’s speakers already have access to MOG’s cloud catalogue, and now they’ll be tapping into JB HiFi’s Now service.

The service has a growing catalogue of 6 million songs, and a subscriber’s account will share your music library from one device to the next.

Although a cloud streaming service, the clever system is capable of background WiFi caching for music playback when you don’t have access to an internet connection. It’s also rich in a variety of social features, listing the songs your friends are listening to and sharing pre-made mix tapes.

“We are very excited to have this well implemented music service on our platform,” said Niv Novak, MD of Sonos Australia.

Pricing for JB HiFi Now on Sonos systems will start from $10 a month, but prospective users should give the one month free trial a shot.
