<p>In case you hadn’t noticed, our phone screens have gotten unmanageably huge. And smartphone sales have slowed, as we see less incentive in upgrading from one black rectangle to another.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Facebook will be bringing Facebook Lite, its stripped down version of the social media platform to Australia and other developed countries.</p>
<p>Facebook says it brought the Lite version to more developed countries as users can still have lower connectivity.</p>
<p>&#8220;We want to make sure everyone has the option to use this app if they want,&#8221; Facebook says.</p>
<p>The Lite platform includes its core experiences like News Feed, status updates, photos, notifications and more.</p>
<p>Introduced in 2015, its Lite version uses less data, is less than 1MB to install and is easily accessible across all networks. It was first introduced across countries in Latin America, Africa, Europe and Asia.</p>
<p>It is available for download now on Android with iOS to follow. It is available in other countries including the USA, UK and New Zealand.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>An update for the upcoming Microsoft Office 2019 sees the software will only be able to run on Windows 10.</p>
<p>The change was spotted on a Microsoft support <a href="https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/windowsitpro/2018/02/01/changes-to-office-and-windows-servicing-and-support/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">post</a> describing the new changes to Window and Office servicing and support.</p>
<p>In the post Microsoft defends its decision by saying, &#8220;Modern software not only provides new features to help people do their best work, but also new, more efficient manageability solutions and more comprehensive approaches to security. Software that is more than a decade old, and hasn’t benefited from this innovation, is difficult to secure and inherently less productive.&#8221;</p>
<p><a href="https://www.theverge.com/2018/2/1/16960640/microsoft-office-2019-windows-10-support" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">The Verge</a> points out this move is designed to push businesses who do not have Office 365 into subscriptions. This update will not affect Office for Mac.</p>
<p>Microsoft Office 2019 will be releasing during the second half of 2018, includes perpetual versions of the Office apps (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, and Skype for Business) and servers (including Exchange, SharePoint, and Skype for Business).</p>
<p>Microsoft says previews of the new products will start shipping mid-year 2018.</p>
<p class="">In a post Microsoft says, &#8216;Office 2019 will add new user and IT capabilities for customers who aren’t yet ready for the cloud. For example, new and improved inking features—<wbr />like pressure sensitivity, tilt effects, and ink replay—<wbr />will allow you to work more naturally. New formulas and charts will make data analysis for Excel more powerful. Visual animation features—<wbr />like Morph and Zoom—<wbr />will add polish to PowerPoint presentations. Server enhancements will include updates to IT manageability, usability, voice, and security.&#8217;</p>

<p>No more, it seems. The bottom, perhaps, has been reached.</p>
<p>Microsoft Australia says it will raise the price of its Office 365 Home and Personal subscriptions from October 12. But at this stage the price rises will affect only home versions of Office 365.</p>
<p>The whisper is that business subscriptions may also be quietly raised in coming months.</p>
<p>Meanwhile, for Office 365 Personal edition users, the subscription price will climb from $89 to $99 a year. So far not revealed is the new pricing for the Home edition, currently $119 a year.</p>
<p>A Microsoft Australia spokesperson said the company “periodically assesses its pricing to ensure reasonable alignment with the needs of customers, partners and the marketplace”. Uh, huh …</p>
