Nokia's New Strategy: Cut 10,000 Jobs Including Executives
0Overall Score

Nokia is changing things up by laying off 10,000 staff members and ditching key executives.

The job cuts are the result of several factories shutting shop in Canada, Germany and Finland, and will happen before the end of 2013.

Three key executives are also being ditched, including chief marketing officer Jerry Devard, VP of mobile phones Mary McDowell and VP of markets Niklas Savandar. These execs will leave the company by June 30th and will be replaced by Nokia’s new executive of marketing and sales, Chris Weber; VP of mobile phones, Timo Toikanen; and VP of communications, Susan Sheehan, by July 1st.

Nokia claims the redundancies are part of their plan to sharpen its strategy, along with its push of feature phones in emerging markets.
